Q&A Time – featuring Miles

If you were a super hero, what would your super power be?

If I were a super hero, my super power would be to make people feel normal. Yes, normal. One thing I learned when I was training to be a therapist was that everyone feels alone in their grief, sadness, aloneness, freakishness, self-loathing, whatever. We all have issues, they might differ throughout our lives but it’s the awesome price you pay for being human!

What song do you crank up when you need a boost, or are celebrating a business victory?

Haha, good one. I’m a music freak but here are a few of my fav’s: Pump it up by Joe Budden Bangarang by Skrillex and anything by Led Zeppelin. I could do this all day.

What's the best book you've read this year? (business or fiction)

Hmm. Tough one. I’d have to say The Power of Your Subconscious Mind by Joseph Murphy I re-read it every year, super basic reminders to live by. It’s like my bible.

I love to play business match maker. What area of your business could you use help with, in case the Socially Aligned audience or I can hook you up with someone?

Wow, thank you. Anyone who can help connect me with women experiencing a quarter life crisis. I could have used a mentor and practical advice when I was younger. It took me a long time, a lot of boyfriends and many careers until I felt satisfied. Life is challenging enough, I want to help young women get there faster.

Apple or PC?

Both! Apple for fun, PC for writing.

What's your favorite social media network for business?

Facebook, hands down. Marie Forleo’s B School and my cohorts at Pacifica Graduate Institute use it. It’s invaluable for networking, staying on top of what’s current in psychology and accessing learning tools. I’ve been using Twitter and Instagram to build my list but my go-to is still Facebook.

What hidden talent do you have that people would be surprised to learn of?

Hmm, I don’t know if I’d call it a talent but I love metaphysics. Where Science meets the unexplainable–Holographic Universe, stuff like that. I was a philosophy major in undergrad. Most people don’t expect blondes to be into that sorta thing. Like, duh? Haha

Give us the elevator pitch – what do you do and where can people find you online to connect?

I’m like a modern day Dear Abby, only live. (Skype, Facetime, Phone) I give advice and guidance: Why do you do that thing you do when you know it’s not serving you? Your boss hitting on you? Your mother in law rearranging your stuff? Your friend flirting with your guy? I trained as a counselor and although I respect the profession, not everyone can afford the travel time or money for weekly sessions. Plus, sometimes a client has a pressing issue and needs quick, practical advice.

Traditional psychotherapy is awesome but it can take years. I’m more directive by nature and a lot of my clients want immediate feedback. Skype, call or email me. Together, we’ll figure it out. You can find me at www.groundedpsyche.com or at Facebook.com/groundedpsyche. Please follow me on Twitter at @groundedpsyche and Instagram @groundedpsyche. Look forward to connecting!

Now for my social media tip of the week! And since Miles mentioned Facebook, that will be the topic! {See the embedded video below.}
