Q&A Time – featuring Melanie Deardorff of Social Media for Wellness Pros

If you were a super hero, what would your super power be?

Bloggerrr Girrrl – She posts amazing content every day, has the energy to guest-post twice a week, and her inbound links are off the charts! A more traditional answer: Catwoman, because my husband's allergic to cats – and I could build up his immunity because I'd love to own a cat again.

What song do you crank up when you need a boost, or are celebrating a business victory?

If I'm in an old-school mood, Saturday Night's Alright by Elton John. But Kelly Clarkson's Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You) also pumps me up.

What's the best book you've read this year? (business or fiction)

Contagious: Why Things Catch On, by Jonah Berger

I love to play business match maker. What area of your business could you use help with, in case the Socially Aligned audience or I can hook you up with someone?

I'm toying with the idea of hiring a VA on a part-time basis and would love to talk with business owners who use one today, so that I can pick up some dos and don'ts.

Apple or PC?

PC, but my iPad Mini's never far from me. I take it in the car wherever I go so I can listen to podcasts.

What's your favorite social media network for business?

Facebook, currently, since it's where I'm connected to 3,000+ health coaches and wellness pros. I volunteer almost 10 hours a week managing my Social Media for Health Coaches and Health and Wellness Bloggers groups.

What hidden talent do you have that people would be surprised to learn of?

I can find typos or incorrect punctuation on billboards, TV commercials and online when others miss them.

Give us the elevator pitch – what do you do and where can people find you online to connect?

In 2013, I studied to be a health coach while working my marketing day job. Close to graduation, I realized I wanted to coach coaches instead. See, my background is marketing and my focus is digital marketing. I love being surrounded by health coaches, and I know they've played a part in my personal health journey (I've lost almost 100 pounds in 1.5 years). So I decided on a mash-up of my two loves: digital marketing for the health and wellness industry.

Through content, which I'm already distributing, and the Holistically Social courses I'm developing, I'll help health coaches and wellness pros (personal trainers, yoga teachers, etc.) learn how to use social media marketing to attract and keep clients, build their social brands and help them have fun (and not stress out!) along the way as they connect online with peers. I like to say, I eat, sleep and breathe social media marketing, so they don't have to.

Now for my social media tip of the week! And since Melanie mentioned Facebook, that will be the topic! {See the embedded Facebook post below.}

If you're an entrepreneur and would like to join in the fun, email [email protected] with YOUR answers to these same questions, and you could be featured here next week!
