Facebook is a great way to reach your target market, but it can also be an easy place to get banned.
If you're not careful, Facebook will shut down your account for any number of reasons – and that's bad news for your business! In this blog post, we'll discuss four tips that will help keep your Facebook ad account from getting shut down.
So, how do you protect your account and avoid it getting shut down? Read on!
TIP 1: Turn on 2-Factor Authentication
Turning on 2-factor authentication will help keep your accounts more secure and signals to Facebook that you're trustworthy as well. It's not a guarantee, but it should help you keep from getting shut down before you really even get started, especially with a new ad account.
Do note that this is NOT in Ads Manager, this is on your PERSONAL Facebook Profile.
From your newsfeed, click on the drop-down menu next to the notification symbol in the top right corner of Facebook.
- Click on Settings & Privacy
- Click on Settings
- Click on Security and Login
- Set Up 2-Factor Authentication
TIP 2: Add a Second Admin to Your Ad Account and Facebook Page
This has always been a smart move since it's possible for an admin to be hit with ‘restricted access' and get locked out of an active ad account with ads running. This can be a nightmare if you don't have an additional admin already added.
You can add People (Users) in Business Manager and assign them as admins on both your Ad Account and Facebook page.
TIP 3: Create a Business Manager Account and Verify Your Domain
Creating a Business Manager account used to just be for ad agencies, but now anyone can do it and it's become an essential part of keeping your ad account in good standing in fact.
Verifying your domain has also become a necessary step to navigate the iOS 14 updates that are causing all kinds of pixel confusion these days.

TIP 4: Familiarize Yourself with Facebook's Ad Policies
It becomes apparent pretty quickly when you start running Facebook ads that there are a lot of rules you have to follow!
If you don't adhere to these rules, your account will be deactivated. Make sure that all ad content is compliant with Facebook's policies by reviewing the restrictions and guidelines for publishers here.
Facebook advertising has been the cause of many tears, both literal and metaphorical for sure. It can be hard to decide whether it is worth the fight some days but in the long run, I have to say it is. I still think it's the best advertising platform for small businesses and entrepreneurs, bar none.
It can be very frustrating when they are shutting down ad account before they even get rolling for sure though. Do keep in mind that part of the reason that Facebook is so strict is because they want to protect their users.
They are trying to cut down on fake ad accounts by requiring everyone to verify their identities and provide more info than we had to in the past. In the long run, I think the platform will be better for it.
