Let’s Get Social – featuring Shelly Jackson
Welcome back for another week of Let’s Get Social, where I feature a different entrepreneur every Sunday!
This week I am featuring Shelly Jackson. Don’t forget – if you or someone you know can help out the featured entrepreneur with their area of need (see question #4), be sure to leave a comment! Also, if you would like to be the next entrepreneur featured, learn how at the end of this post. Enjoy!
Q&A Time – featuring Shelly:
If you were a superhero, what would your super power be?
To fly. I once went sky diving and hang gliding (before injuring my spine a year later); for six months after those experiences I had such vivid dreams at night where I was flying over the ocean. It was magical. I imagine that if people could fly, we would be much more relaxed and peaceful.
What song do you crank up when you need a boost, or are celebrating a business victory?
I grew up on the beach of South Florida. My family always traveled in and around the Keys or the Bahamas where we fished, dove, and swam. I have really fond memories of my (somewhat recently deceased) father playing Bob Marley’s Is this Love; It always puts a smile on my face, gets my feet movin’ and groovin’ and makes me unabashedly giddy.
What’s the best book you’ve read this year? (Business or fiction)
I’m a major book hoarder, so this is challenging to answer. Here goes-
Nonfiction: The Sibley Field Guide to Birds of North America, or Donna Eden’s Energy Medicine for Women, or Jon Kabat Zinn’s Full Catastrophe Living
Fiction: I’m really, really into reading and writing short stories, so I would have to say anything written by T.C Boyle or Ron Rash. Those two are geniuses when it comes to the craft of short fiction.
I love to play business matchmaker. What area of your business could you use help with, in case the Socially Aligned audience or I can hook you up with someone?
Video editing and production or podcast editing and production. Editing things and making them look nice makes my skin itch. I think I may be allergic to iMovie. So, maybe someone can recommend a good cream for that?
Apple or PC?
There isn’t much I wouldn’t do for my iMac.
What’s your favorite social media network for business?
Probably Twitter or Instagram.
What hidden talent do you have that people would be surprised to learn of?
Does learning how to walk 3 times after a total of 5 surgeries spread over ten years count? No? Well… I do have a pretty good talent at seeing and identifying birds. I am a total bird nerd!
Give us the elevator pitch – what do you do and where can people find you online to connect?
I support people living with chronic pain or illness so that they can start to thrive instead of just survive. I know that pain can make you feel like a patient and not like a real person. I can help I started Peaceful Body Coaching because I’ve lived with chronic pain for a decade. I know that even though chronic pain sucks, you don’t have to. Together, we will work to adjust how you process and experience living with chronic pain, so that you feel more productive (get things done), social (spend time with those you love), and confident (remember how awesome your body is!). I work with my clients on the phone because it’s more convenient and we can work from anywhere. It’s confidential. It’s safe. It’s comfortable. It’s just you and me, working together to help you find your more peaceful body. I also provide you with support via email between our coaching sessions, so we can stay connected and check-in about all of the great progress you will make.
