Let’s Get Social – featuring Ashley Watkins

Welcome back for another week of, Let's Get Social, where I feature a different entrepreneur every Sunday!

This week I am featuring Ashley Watkins of Write Steps ResumesI highly recommend Ashley if you're on the job hunt. She did an amazing job with my husband's resume and cover letter recently, so I've seen her work firsthand and can tell you she knows her stuff!

Don't forget – if you or someone you know can help out the featured entrepreneur with their area of need (see question #4), be sure to leave a comment! Also, if you would like to be the next entrepreneur featured, learn how at the end of this post. Enjoy!

Q&A Time – featuring Ashley Watkins

If you were a super hero, what would your super power be?

I would be Stiletta – The Goddess of Shoes.  I would travel the world granting shoe wishes to give women and children the confidence to walk the path they were destined to travel.

What song do you crank up when you need a boost, or are celebrating a business victory?

Bruno Mars – Just the way you are.  My mom often works out to this song and says it reminds of her me every time she hears it at the gym.

What's the best book you've read this year? (business or fiction)

Crucial Conversations by Kerry Patterson, Joseph Greeny, Ron McMillan, and Al Switzler.  I love how this book has helped me tackle difficult conversations that would normally be intimidating.  Instead of the fear and tension I once felt during these conversations, I can now express myself thoroughly and patiently listen to what may truly be the root of the conflict.  I can now get it out, get it fixed and move on!

I love to play business match maker. What area of your business could you use help with, in case the Socially Aligned audience or I can hook you up with someone?

Visibility has been my biggest struggle.  It's not that I'm shy or afraid, I just don't quite know where to start sometimes.  I'm in the process of tackling videos since that is an area where I'm least comfortable with techy issues.

Apple or PC?

I'm a PC chick. I tried Apple for a while but thanks to water damage, my MacBook Air is on injured reserve.

What's your favorite social media network for business?

Facebook. I LOVE connecting with my audience on Facebook, sharing my story, and having access to so many wonderful clients and business owners to help me learn and grow.

What hidden talent do you have that people would be surprised to learn of?

I can draw. I can pretty much re-create any image as long as it's not the human face.  I guess I've always been the creative and artsy type.  As a child I would hear a song and by the time I made it home to my keyboard, I could play almost the entire song by ear.

Give us the elevator pitch – what do you do and where can people find you online to connect?

  1. I also loved her super hero comment! Easy to see why you and your husband chose to use her!

She does excellent work, Chris! I can’t recommend her enough. My husband had multiple interviews and several job offers very quickly. I have no doubt that his resume and cover letter helped him get in the door.

Loved this interview. Her super hero power is brilliant 🙂 Thanks for sharing. I know someone I may be sending her way.
